”We are human, and humans make mistakes too - but we are constantly tweaking and optimising our processes so that we can avoid internal errors.”
From errors to new procedures
From errors to new procedures
Growth has put our quality assurance work to the test, but it has also made us wiser. By analysing errors, adjusting workflows and introducing new procedures, we are working purposefully towards our target of 98 % error-free deliveries.
Quality is not something that just happens. It is the result of systematic work, continuous follow-up and the willingness to learn from the mistakes that inevitably arise.
At Alflow, we have had a clear objective for a number of years: 98 % of all orders must be delivered error-free. For several years, we achieved that target – and even began to consider whether we should raise our ambitions even further. But growth brings new challenges.
As Alflow grew significantly in terms of employees and orders in 2024, there was an increased need heading towards 2025 to strengthen training, workflows, and quality assurance. This was reflected, among other things, in customer complaints.
Growth is putting the systems to the test
2025 has been the year when we have truly felt the backlog of that growth. One of the types of error that took up the most space was label errors. A seemingly simple workflow proved to be a source of recurring errors because templates were saved incorrectly
and thus unintentionally changed.
The solution was straightforward: all existing label templates were deleted, and new locked templates were introduced where employees can only edit the fields that need to be edited. The result was a marked and measurable
reduction in label errors.
The experiences set the direction
With that experience under our belts, we are now setting up new procedures to avoid similar errors in future. That is how we work with quality at Alflow: we find the error, understand the cause, and introduce solutions that make it difficult to repeat.
This applies regardless of whether the error occurs internally with us or originates from one of our suppliers.
"We constantly have to find the golden middle way. We expect the products to be in order when they arrive from our suppliers, but we
whilst also doing a great deal of internal quality control to catch errors before they reach our customers,”" says Dina Stubbe.
The target is still 98 %. We haven’t reached our goal yet, but we’re on the right track, and every year we learn more about what it takes.
