Inline mixers
Alflow sells in-line mixers – also called static mixers – for the pharmaceutical industry, process/chemical industry and the food industry.
The mixers provide precise mixing and spreading of all liquid materials without the use of moveable parts. Mixing of the products is achieved instead by redirecting the flow patterns already present in an empty tube, using process-specific elements. The elements use the energy from the process stream to mix and disperse the product with minimal pressure loss.
What is an inline mixer?
One of the significant advantages of inline mixers is that they enable the overall integrity of the tank. There is no shaft that passes through the tank wall, which could cause leakage and challenge the integrity of the tank and its contents.
Inline mixers use the energy from the process stream to mix the product with minimal loss of energy. In all our static mixers, a patented, helical mixing element directs the flow of material radially towards the pipe walls and back to the centre. Additional speed reversal and flow splitting are the result of combining shifting right and left-facing elements, increasing mixing efficiency. All material is mixed continuously and completely, eliminating radial gradients in temperature, velocity and material composition.
Our static inline mixer is often used if you want to go from batch mixing to continuous mixing and process.

Mixing applications
Our in-line mixers can be used in different types of mixing and spreading applications – including turbulent mixing, laminar mixing and dispersion.
In turbulent mixing, our in-line mixers produce fast mixing by inducing circular patterns that reverse the direction at the intersection of each element.
In laminar mixing, the alternating helical elements of our in-line mixers continuously divide, stretch and reorient the flow to produce complete mixing with minimal pressure drop.
In liquid/liquid dispersion, the uniform turbulent displacement field in in-line mixers rapidly disperses immiscible liquids and produces a narrow droplet size distribution.
For gas/liquid dispersion, gases can be incorporated into turbulent liquids using our in-line mixer. Mass transfer rates increase dramatically in order to maximise absorption or reaction.
In addition, a special series of our in-line mixers, called Thermogenizers, can mix thermal gradients as well as complementary colour and additive mixing.
